Originally published in two volumes in 1868 and 1869, Louisa May Alcott’s novel about four sisters coming of age in the Civil War era since has become a classic.
Over 150 years later it is capturing another generation of readers, thanks in part to recent adaptation from director Greta Gerwig.
The novel offers a rather unusual perspective - not all of it is about falling in love. The author tells a story about the ability to dream, and the importance of supporting each other.
It seems like this book is a perfect read growing up.
